Hackney Council Implements a Major UK Installation of Granberg Equipment from Mountway
Following the successful launch of the Granberg range of kitchen and bathroom lifting mechanisms, Mountway is pleased to announce a major installation of the system in the London Borough of Hackney.
Specialist joinery manufacturer and fit-out contractor James Johnson & Co Ltd based in Dagenham, Essex, is carrying out a contract for Hackney Council to install a range of new office desking equipment. Part of the contract calls for the design and construction of five customized workstations for employees with a range of disabilities.
James Johnson & Co Ltd has extensive experience of dealing with DDA installations and advises architects on what is and what is not possible within the design. The company is fully accredited, a necessary requirement when working in the bespoke joinery industry and dealing with DDA installations.
At the heart of each workstation is a Granberg Slimlift 6230 motorised unit, capable of raising or lowering a horizontal surface such as a desk or kitchen worktop, by up to 30mm at the push of a button.

This is the first time that James Johnson & Co Ltd has used Mountway and the Granberg products. Works Manager, Bill Frost says “We chose the Slimlift 6230 system because the product is very robust and does exactly what we want. Being fully adjustable, the new workstations can be used by different people regardless of their height or disability.”
“We received the full lifting units from Mountway and then built the workstation around the system. Having used lifting equipment for desking installations before, we were impressed by the overall quality and clever design of the mechanisms. They are very good indeed, simple to operate and easy to install.”
Would they consider using Mountway’s Granberg product range again on future projects? “Without a doubt!” was the verdict from Bill Frost.
